Variety Plot – Elmira

This was another of our yearly Dekalb Corn Variety plots, planted just outside of Elmira. This field followed winter wheat, gets plenty of manure and is conventionally tilled. The plot was planted with Perry’s 12 row, 20″, customized John Deere planter, with all the Precision Planting upgrades.  5 gal G24 liquid starter was added on the seed as well as 20 gal of UAN + ATS applied 3” to the side, just below the surface – 3×0 – through conceal knives. The in season PSNT did not call for any nitrogen at side-dress timing.  This plot received a fungicide at silk timing to promote plant health and reduce diseases and toxins.
