Variety Plot – Stirton

This was another of our yearly Dekalb Corn Variety plots, planted a few blocks from the shop with a few different varieties. This field followed winter wheat and oat cover crop, gets around 6000 gal of hog manure and is conventionally. The plot was planted with the shop demo planter – a John Deere 7240, with all the Precision Planting upgrades.  5 gal G24 liquid starter was added on the seed as well as 20 gal of UAN + ATS applied 3” to the side, just below the surface – 3×0 – through conceal knives. The in season PSNT called for around 50 lb of nitrogen, so 15 gal of UAN with 15% ATS was applied at side dress timing. Fungicide was applied at silking.
