Variety Plot – CFS Shop

This was another of our yearly Dekalb Corn Variety plot. This field followed winter wheat and oats cover crop, gets plenty of manure and has been no-til for 7 years. The plot was planted with our 6 row, John Deere 7240 demo planter, with all the Precision Planting upgrades.  5 gal G24 liquid starter was added on the seed as well as 20 gal of UAN + ATS applied 3” to the side, just below the surface – 3×0 – through conceal knives. This field received two applications of fungicide, Delaro complete at silking and Veltyma DLX  4 weeks later to keep the corn green through grain fill. The PSNT called for nitrogen when tested at 8 leaf, so 30 gal of UAN + ATS was applied in season.
